Domingo's Guitarra is the second piece in the Dia de los Muertos series. Domingo is my wife’s maternal grandfather who passed before they could meet. He was a bit of a rambling man who kept his guitar with him everywhere he went. His guitar, this guitar, has hung on the wall and occupied various corners of the house where my wife grew up. Now my wife has a visual reminder of Domingo's story without having the actual guitar in our home.
The personal belongings of those who have crossed over help keep them close and their stories alive. This guitar was well-used. It's visibly worn and smudged, just as Domingo left it.
